Nursery 2's Time for a Rhyme- Incy Wincy Spider Oct 19
When the children arrived at nursery this week they discovered a giant cobweb that belonged to Incy Wincy Spider in our room. Itsy Bitsy Spider his tiny little brother who only speaks in a quiet voice and Hairy Scary Spider his enormous brother who only speaks in a loud voice lived on the web too! The children got to look at lots of different spiders and engaged in sorting and comparing opportunities with them as well as using them to act out the rhyme. Outdoors the children hunted for real spiders and met some other minibeasts and used clay and other loose parts to make representations of them. We did lots of mark making in different media linked to the rhyme and used drums and tambours to make sound effects to accompany it. We also shared a funny story called 'There's a spider in the bath' by Neil Griffiths.
